Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will testify before the Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday morning on the Trump administration’s budget request for fiscal 2026.
The hearing comes as Noem grapples with questions over the REAL ID deadline as well as her vow to shutter most of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). President Trump earlier this month issued an executive order calling for DHS to propose changes to federal emergency response and ensure communication between state and local governments and the administration were improved.
Trump’s budget proposal, unveiled last week, would give DHS $43.8 billion in additional anticipated reconciliation funds.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
