At least one person was injured Wednesday night in a “low-speed” collision between two Delta Air Lines regional jets at LaGuardia Airport in New York.
“Delta teams at our New York-LaGuardia hub are working to ensure our customers are taken care of after two Delta Connection aircraft operated by Endeavor Air were involved in a low-speed collision during taxi,” a Delta spokesperson said in a statement to The Hill’s sister network, NewsNation.
“Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as safety of our customers and people comes before all else,” the statement continued. “We apologize to our customers for the experience.”
The collision took place after 9 p.m. EDT between one arriving and one departing Delta flight, both operated by Endeavor Air.
Endeavor Air flight 5155 was taxiing for departure from LaGuardia to Roanoke, Va., carrying 28 customers, two flight attendants and two pilots.
The second plane, Endeavor Air flight 5047, was taxiing for its arrival gate from Charlotte, N.C., with 57 passengers, two flight attendants and two pilots.
The wing of the departing aircraft hit the fuselage of the arriving aircraft, according to preliminary information.
A flight attendant was treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to a statement from Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. No passengers were harmed per the airline.
Those on board the flights were taken back to the terminal on a bus and were provided with food and beverages. They will receive hotel rooms and meals, along with rebooking for Thursday.
