Noem taken to hospital after allergic reaction

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem was taken to a hospital on Tuesday after having an allergic reaction, according to the department.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement that Noem was “alert” and recovering from the incident.

“Secretary Noem had an allergic reaction today. She was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution. She is alert and recovering,” McLaughlin said in a statement.

CNN reported late Tuesday afternoon that Noem was taken by ambulance to a DC-area hospital and that she was “conscious” in the hospital and has “spoken to her security detail” and her doctor.
