Live updates: Trump escalates feud with Federal Reserve; to hold cabinet meeting

President Trump in recent days has found himself at the center of several battles from redistricting efforts across the country to his federal takeover of Washington and threats to spread to other blue-led states to his move to oust Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook over mortgage fraud claims.

The president has pushed Cook to resign over allegations that she listed two primary residences. In a letter to the Fed board member, he said there was cause to remove her from the position, though Cook has largely stood her ground.

Trump earlier this week also threatened to sue California over legislation signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) last week approving a measure to redraw the state’s district lines. The effort, expected to be on the ballot in November, was launched to counter act five House districts Republicans stand to gain in Texas after similar legislation advanced.

The Trump administration’s federal takeover of Washington’s police force and deployment of National Guard troops is also still top of mind. Trump has hinted that the effort to crackdown on crime could be launched in other cities as well.

The president will also hold a Cabinet meeting at the White House Tuesday afternoon.
