Harris says she lost to Trump because she ‘didn’t have enough time’

Former Vice President Harris said Tuesday that a reason behind her loss in the 2024 presidential election is that she “didn’t have enough time.”

“Ultimately, if you have to pin it down to one thing, what was the primary reason — do you think — that you lost?” ABC’s “The View” co-host Ana Navarro asked Harris on the show.

“There are many factors, I think that — that played into the outcome of that election, but, I think probably one of the biggest in my mind is we just didn’t have enough time,” Harris replied.

Former President Biden dropped his reelection bid in late July 2024 after a disastrous debate against President Trump in June, leaving Harris only a few months to pull together a campaign to challenge Trump.

Following significant losses in November, there has been heavy debate among Democrats about how to move forward, with some claiming the party has gone too far to the left and others saying it needs to become more progressive.

In an earlier interview Tuesday, Harris doubled down on her criticism of the former president.

“So, when I write this, it’s because I realize that I have and had a certain responsibility that I should have followed through on … and so, when I talk about the recklessness, as much as anything, I’m talking about myself,” Harris said during an appearance on MSNBC. “There was so much, as we know, at stake. And, as I write … where my head was at, at the time is that it would be completely — it would come off as being completely self-serving,”

Harris also suggested in her book, “107 Days,” released Tuesday, that Biden’s decision not to step aside sooner amounted to “recklessness.”

The former vice president blasted Trump on Monday night, saying the U.S. is dealing with a communist dictator. In her memoir, she sought to predict how Trump would act in a second term, but wrote that she didn’t expect the level of capitulation from the private sector toward him.

Harris predicted that corporate leaders have been quiet because they fear the president’s threats.
