Vice President Vance said Sunday that “more indictments” are coming under the Trump administration.
On Thursday, former FBI Director James Comey was indicted on felony charges of making a false statement to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding.
“There’s certainly going to be more indictments coming over the next three and a half years of the Trump administration,” Vance said on “Fox News Sunday.”
Comey, a longtime critic of Trump dating back to his first term, was indicted in the Eastern District of Virginia. Erik Siebert, the previous U.S. Attorney for the jurisdiction, resigned on Sept. 19 amid pressure from the administration to probe New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) for alleged mortgage fraud.
Siebert was replaced by Lindsey Halligan, a former White House aide and member of the president’s personal legal team. Halligan’s signature is on Comey’s indictment.
Trump also called for other “corrupt, radical-left Democrats” to be indicted on Friday, without listing specific allegations. The day after Siebert resigned, the president called for Attorney General Pam Bondi to prosecute Comey, James and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) in a post on his Truth Social platform.
James and Schiff have been under investigation by the Justice Department for alleged mortgage fraud since August. Both have denied wrongdoing.
Vance, though, said the administration will “always let the law drive” investigations, and added that Comey “will have his day in court,” to prove his innocence. The former FBI director denied wrongdoing in a video he posted to Instagram on Thursday.
“We’re not letting politics drive this,” Vance said. “We’re letting the requirements of the justice system and the law drive this.”
