Adams calls Mamdani a ‘snake-oil salesman,’ says Cuomo ‘didn’t want job’

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) slammed his mayoral opponents on Wednesday after Zohran Mamdani bested former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary.

Adams said Mamdani was a “snake-oil salesman” for promoting policies for free buses, affordable housing and no-cost childcare as top platform points.

“He’s a snake oil salesman,” Adams said during a Wednesday appearance on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends.”

“He would say and do anything to get elected,” he added.

Mamdani has already claimed victory in the primary race despite outstanding ballots and celebrated his lead over Cuomo as a historic feat.

But Adams said the former New York governor didn’t really want the job.

“Andrew, at this time, should realize that the time has moved on. He just did not bring the energy of wanting to be mayor…” Adams told Fox News.

“People know if you want the job. He didn’t want the job.”

During the segment, Adams predicted Mamdani would lose the overall race for mayor due to progressive policies.

“You are going to get those grandmothers, those granddads, those working-class people who are going to come out because they realize they don’t want to defund their police department. They want the police on their block. They realize that you have to invest in businesses. And small property owners are hurting in this city, when you talk about freeze rent and no rent,” Adams said.
