Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot while speaking at a Wednesday event at a Utah college campus, authorities have confirmed.

Kirk, the co-founder of Turning Point USA, appeared to be struck by a gunshot in video from the event. After a shot fired, attendees ran from the event at the Orem campus.

Here’s what we know:

  • Bystanders said he was shot near the neck during the event, the Utah-based Deseret News reported.

As news broke of the incident, lawmakers from both sides of the aisle and right-wing pundits took to social media to condemn the incident.
