President John F. Kennedy was murdered by a 24-year-old committed Marxist who acted alone, enraged by U.S. policy toward Cuba. No credible evidence contradicts this fact.
Yet most reactions to this statement range from curt dismissal to incredulity. This is a testament to the left’s successful decades-long project to obfuscate the facts and deflect responsibility for the historic assassination.
In the week following the murder of conservative activist and icon Charlie Kirk, a similar project has cropped up.
The theories about who “really” killed JFK are by now familiar. They implicate the CIA, the FBI, the Pentagon, the mafia, the Russians, the Cubans — even Kennedy’s own Vice President, Lyndon Johnson. Oliver Stone promoted such unhinged deep-state conspiracy theories in his blockbuster 1991 film “JFK,” a movie so preposterous that even Rolling Stone labeled it “unrivaled in the annals of American cinematic propaganda.”
It turns out that it was actually KGB disinformation that impelled “JFK” protagonist and New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison’s quixotic quest to find a world-changing conspiracy behind the assassination. Adding to the intentional confusion was propaganda about a supposed “climate of hate” toward Kennedy that existed in Dallas circa 1963. This, too, is ridiculous — Kennedy was treated as a conquering hero. Throngs of admirers mobbed the dashing young president throughout the trip, including during his arrival at Love Field.
Incredibly, surveys show today that more than half and as many as three-quarters of Americans do not believe that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in killing the 35th president. It is nearly forgotten today that Oswald, who had embraced socialism as a teenager, labeled himself a “hunter of fascists” and at one point defected to the USSR, offering the Soviets what little intelligence he knew as a former enlisted Marine.
The conspiracy theories successfully introduced confusion to what was actually a very simply story. Mission accomplished.
Fast forward 60 years, and the Left’s mission to obfuscate the obvious motive of Kirk’s killer is working in overdrive. It has successfully driven several “both sides” news cycles and media narratives, ranging from from Jimmy Kimmel to so many cable news talking heads wishing to deflect responsibility.
Tyler Robinson was an admittedly troubled and perhaps confused young man, but one firmly on the Left. He is a gay man with had a “transitioning” transgender partner. Kirk’s repeated repudiation of transgender ideology served as a constant irritant to a certain segment of Leftists.
According to charging documents, Robinson had “had enough of [Kirk’s] hatred,” which he felt could not “be negotiated out.” On bullet casings, he engraved clear left-wing calling cards about fascists and lyrics from an Antifa anthem. Other messages were less overtly political but invoked weird tropes from the fever swamps of internet and gaming culture.
His friends and family described him as indoctrinated in Leftist ideology and recently radicalized.
Yet every new revelation brings further rounds of Leftist deflections. The Antifa song supposedly showed up on a playlist! “Groypers” wanted Kirk dead because he defended Israel — or wasn’t MAGA enough! His parents are Republican, therfore he must be! Utah is conservative, therefore he must be! Ben Shapiro once called Democrats fascists! And what is the relevance of his transgender partner, anyway?
But this attempt to “JFK” Kirk will not succeed.
For one thing, the only people cheering Kirk’s death on social media are clearly on the far left — among them teachers, professors, health care workers, racial grifters and dead-end TikTokers.
For another thing, technology leaves far less to the imagination about this killing compared to Kennedy’s. Modern devices track and record our every move and word, so there is a very detailed record of the alleged killer’s movements and motives. Also, the alleged killer is still alive, unlikely to meet the same end as Oswald, who was murdered while being transported under police custody.
In short, the abundance of public information about this case illustrates why the legacy media’s narrative control over this and other stories is its weakest point since the advent of radio.
The Left seems taken aback by the outpouring of grief and sympathy after Kirk’s death, not only in America but around the world. How could such a racist, misogynist, Bible-thumper resonate with so many people who never knew him?
The answer, of course, is that he was not the caricature framed up by those celebrating his death. He was a good and decent man who lived his faith and loved his family and his country. A leftist killed him for it. His fellow travelers won’t be able to deny it this time.
